What is IKAMET?
IKAMET is a plastic card confirming a residence permit in Turkey. Ikamet can be issued for a period of 6 months to 2 years. The registration of a semi-annual icamet gives homeowners or tenants the right to enter and leave the country indefinitely.
In 2015, the procedure for obtaining a residence permit has changed somewhat: now those wishing to stay in the southern republic must submit an application electronically on the website e-ikamet.goc.gov.tr . There are two types of visa application on the main page of the Internet resource: an initial application for those who submit documents for the first time, and an extension of an existing visa.
The list of documents that must be attached to the application on IKAMET
- TAPU is a certificate of ownership of property or a notarized long–term lease agreement.
- A Turkish bank account with an amount of 500 USD per month.
- Medical insurance of a Turkish insurance company, which is issued for at least 1 year.
The period for obtaining an icamet is on average 2-3 months from the date of application. You will be notified of the readiness of the plastic card via an SMS message, with information and the barcode number of the ID sent to you.
